I'm less cranky today, although god only knows why as I and everyone else watch the Dow swan dive into the future. I love Kelley's advice on boots, but it's 80 degrees here, so boots remain symbolic to me.
What's all too real is the economy and its impact on everyday life. I'm not surprised to see fashion retailers cutting their forecasts sharply, and I bet it's not enough. The old economy thrived on consumers needing something new every other week, but few people are going to have the resources or the appetite to support that behavior. I'm not saying fashion is doomed--if fashion depended on a robust economy, it would have died out 5,000 years ago. But I think it will change, possibly dramatically.
Meanwhile, I need something free and easy to distract me. Thanks to nerdy pleasure Nethackz, I found Dosh Dosh. This is a blog that offers internet marketing advice. Normally, that description would kill my interest, but Dosh Dosh is written by a philosophy student in Canada who reminds me of every shy, sweet, artistic guy I never dated. The content is a bit dry unless you're making a living off your blog, but his anime imagery is charming and his common sense is admirable.
